apollo bay trailhead
Take a memorable photo at the trailhead to mark the start of your Great Ocean Walk adventure, before heading out of the beautiful township of Apollo Bay. Look out for seals as you walk alongside the Great Ocean Road and past the Marengo Marine Sanctuary.

shelly beach
Shelly Beach is a wonderful little bay about 8km from Apollo Bay. Swimming is not recommended here, but it is well worth the time to go down and explore this pretty little beach.

blanket bay

Blanket Bay is a beautiful secluded beach and was once used by settlers to transport provisions to the Cape Otway Lighthouse. Explore the remains of the old cottage nestled in the dunes which has fuelled local tales of hidden treasure!

Take the time to visit the Cape Otway Lighthouse where you may walk up the 18 metre, 150 year old lightstation tower and learn about the lives of the hard-working, isolated and incredibly resourceful lighthouse keepers.

AIRE RIVER
This stunning heritage-listed river is wonderfully peaceful and is teaming with wildlife. Stop and rest by the river bank and take in the scenery whilst watching a multitude of birds darting around you. You may even see a koala or two here!

castle cove
The Great Ocean Walk winds past coastal scrub, heath land, wild flowers and grass trees arriving at Castle Cove beach. This magnificent beach has its own lookout platform. Stop and marvel at the prowess of local surfers and watch the wild waves rolling in. There are great sunsets here too!

JOHANNA BEACH
This wild and wonderful beach has been used in the past for professional surfing competitions when waves at the famous Bells Beach in Torquay were not big enough. Don’t try and go for a swim here! Do however remember to stop at the lookout platforms for unbelievable views.

MILANESIA BEACH
Stop and marvel at the stunning rock formations & pass the pretty beach house here, built by a WW11 veteran in memory of his son who died in Gallipoli. As the track rises back to the cliff tops you are presented with outstanding views from the coastal forests, high on the sea cliffs.

wreck beach
Marvel at the old anchors rising out of the sand from the lost shipwrecks of the ‘Fiji’ and the ‘Marie Gabrielle’ and stop and think of the many lives lost at sea. There are over 350 steps down to the beach so if you would prefer, remember the hide tide alternative route.

Glenample
This is where the Great Ocean Walk used to end, before it was extended to end at the magnificent 12 Apostles. Remember to stop at the trail head here and have your photo taken with the iconic Apostles in the distance behind you!

gibsons steps
Walk down Gibson’s Steps onto this amazing beach to get a spectacular view of one of the 12 Apostles at ground level. Remember though that timing is everything as the gate to the stairs will be locked if the swell and tide is high.

End your magnificent walk at the 12 Apostles viewing platform. These iconic rock formations attract visitors from all over the world and are a ‘must do’ for all visitors exploring the Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.
